Planning consent for ADG Architects’ extension to Warburtons’ Newcastle ‘free from‘ bakery

24 February 2016

An extension to Warburtons’ Newcastle bakery designed by North East Architects Practice ADG Architects has won planning permission.

The extension to Warburtons’ Newburn ‘Free From’ Bakery on Newburn Industrial Estate, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, will allow the family-owned bakery business to increase production of its Newburn ‘Free From’ range of wheat and gluten free bread, wraps, rolls, sandwich thins and muffins.

Designed by Paul Kelly, Partner at Darlington-based ADG Architects, tenders are now being considered for the 392 sq.m. (4,220 sq.ft.) bakery extension.

Mr Kelly said: “This is another important project for Warburtons to extend their dedicated gluten free bakery, so I am delighted that we have achieved planning consent.”

Warburtons is a long-standing client of ADG Architects. Mr Kelly has worked closely with Warburtons’ Head of Operations Graeme Tough on a number of projects.

Mr Tough said: “I have worked with ADG Architects for over seven years. They are utterly reliable, and fantastically supportive from concept, through to final implementation on any build project.”
